Born out of a friendship formed over a shared passion for food and life, La Tagliata opened its doors in July 2014. Led by owners Carlo and Lorenzo, the La Tagliata story began with just one main course: sliced sirloin steak served with a rocket and parmesan salad and potatoes. Over time, this dish became a favourite for those in the surrounding area of Spitalfields and Italians across London.
As the restaurant grew in popularity and size, Carlo, Lorenzo, and Head Chef Antonio Tonelli began to introduce new dishes to the menu. With each dish they drew upon their own memories, childhoods, and family traditions in order to offer only the most authentic taste of Italy.
In keeping with this desire to offer a true taste of Italy, the food at La Tagliata is prepared using only the freshest and highest quality ingredients. Everything - from the breads to the sauces, the pastas to the dressings - is prepared each day using ingredients delivered every morning.
As a testament to the authenticity, quality, and freshness of the food served, many of La Tagliata’s dishes feature chef Antonio’s unique signature.
What started as a small team of passionate food lovers has grown into a family of Italians who provide an unrivalled taste of Italy in London. In 2015, Federica joined Carlo, Lorenzo, and Antonio to offer the highest quality service to La Tagliata’s guests. An experienced hospitality professional, Federica works to make sure that all of the guests at La Tagliata experience true Italian food in an atmosphere they would experience in Italy. She and Antonio, who have worked together for over 5 years, combine to create a dynamic fusion of passion, expertise, and care that cannot be found elsewhere.
In 2016, the La Tagliata family grew once again with the arrival of Roberta who joins Carlo and Lorenzo as a co-owner of the restaurant.
Since opening its doors in July 2014, the restaurant has welcomed tens of thousands of guests from all over the world to an Italian villa in historic London. Each room is warm, intimate, and designed to help guests feel at home. The restaurant’s walls feature original contemporary artwork that fuses storied Italian tradition, in the form of Modigliani, with cutting-edge Shoreditch cool.
The food we serve at La Tagliata has been expertly prepared by experienced Italian chefs. Each dish has been designed, tested, and perfected by our Head Chef Antonio Tonelli. As a mark of the quality of our dishes and ingredients, many of our dishes feature his signature.
